WINTER SKIN CARE ROUTINE

                                   Winter Skin Care Routine

Your skin interacts with the environment every day, and is exposed to the weather, climate changes, pollution and environmental toxins.  Our skin tends to dry and needs extra moisture.

Your skin needs change with the seasons so you may find your skin is more oily in the summer months and notice it is dry skin in the winter months.  As the weather becomes colder and drier the skin notices changes with the temperature drop in the winter months, heated homes and cars (low humidity) which tend to dry our skin, especially facial skin which is exposed to the cold and wind elements.

The stratum corneum is the top layer that protects the skin.  It can become fragile and crack due to lack of moisture in the air due to low humidity levels. The skin therefore becomes dehydrated due to lack of water in the skin.

The low humidity combined with cold temperatures increase the fragility of the skin’s surface and cracking dry skin becomes an issue.  Winter months are known to cause winter skin problems: dryness, itching, redness, tightness, peeling, cracking, sensitivity, inflammation, eczema, rashes.

You may already have a winter skin care daily routine- that’s great! You can make a few adjustments for your skin during the winter months and avoid the winter skin problems.

  • The key is hydrating and protecting the skin
  1. Switch your drying cleanser to a hydrating cleanser to restore oils while cleansing impurities. Cleansers for oily skin and acne may dry the skin in the winter. Consider trying a cleanser which helps restore natural oils in the skin while cleansing impurities.

We have the solution: Be on the lookout for the launch of our RE-JUV TM Vitamin C Hydrating Cleanser and GLOW on the GO Travel or Trial set.

  1. Continue to exfoliate- our RE-JUV TM Age-defying Bamboo Charcoal Masque is a perfect choice. It has a cream base and leaves the skin hydrated, brighter, smoother, supple and minimizes pores.
  2. Keep your anti-aging skin care routine whether it is with our amazing RE-JUVTM Super Vitamin C Crème or other anti-aging cream, serum or lotion. Make sure you use a moisturizer if the skin is still dry.

Finally, winter does not have to cause havoc on your skin. Follow a hydrating and skin protecting winter skin care routine- have a plan to manage winter skin.  For dry skin on the hands, legs and body, cream based hydrating moisturizers or ointment based moisturizers may help.  If the winter skin issues persist consult with a dermatologist.
